Flowserve Gaspac ZE: A Dry Gas Seal with Zero Emissions at Standstill

Flowserve introduces the Gaspac ZE, a dry-gas removal line that integrates steady-stay insulation technology to eliminate static leakage and no blowdown in the interrupted operating compressor.

problem to be solved.

In non-continuous pipeline compressors, the gas in the chamber usually has to be discharged every time the machine stops, and there are still small leaks when the machine stops. Many countries set a goal to reduce methane emissions by 2030, so operators need new solutions.

How Gaspac works

According to the company, a nitrogen activation system will push off the insulation when the machine stops to prevent leakage, and disconnect itself when the machine runs. The company says the solution achieves zero emissions at standstill, eliminates the need for discharge, saves about 100,000 cubic meters of standard gas per year per compressor and reduces total emissions by up to 80%.

Number of company announced.

  • Sealing pressure up to 120 bar, activation pressure up to 140 bar.
  • Working temperature from -40 to 180 degrees C.
  • Axial diameter is about 100 to 205 mm.

accepted

The company cites the case where a gas pipeline operator in Europe (OGE) reduced methane emissions by more than 80%. These are figures published by the manufacturer, the actual efficiency depends on the operation mode of each compression station.
